RONDONIA

Located in the north-western part of the country, Rondonia is the second youngest state of Brazil. It became a required natural destination due to its cultural expressions and natural beauties, especially for ecotourism. The state is very rich in fauna and flora, once two thirds of its area is covered by the Amazon Rainforest which grove make visitors fascinated. Porto Velho, the capital, is endowed with good tourist infrastructure, including quality hotels and diverse restaurants. It offers many ecotourism programs that revolve around the Madeira River. The city has also many beaches and lagoons like the Santo Antonio beach and the Belmont lagoon. Other state attractions are the Chapada dos Parecis and the Serra do Pacaas National Park.

• Gastronomy: Since that culturally, the Amazon basin is heavily populated by native who live on a diet of fish, root vegetables such as manioc, yams, and peanuts, plus palm or tropical fruits; the local cuisine is heavily Indian-influenced. One popular dish is Caruru do Par, a one-pot meal of dried shrimp, okra, onion, tomato, cilantro, and palm oil.

Trip Tips: Rondonia is plenty of waterfalls, lakes, rivers, exuberant tropical vegetation, fens and enclosed forests, all perfect for the practice of adventure sports.
